The sfcfw fashion show was a huge success. I was Able to meet a lot of new people and have many new experiences. This show was a bit different from the shows I have participated in in the past. I also want to thank everyone who supported me and I want to announced that I won the Best Designer Collection award 2019! I was able to showcase some of my timeless pieces as well as new pieces I created just for the show. I had a great time here and many people loved my creations. This is one of the things that drives me to continue designing. I love to see many people appreciate all the work I put in to these pieces. the crowd was wonderful and there were so many who came to greet and meet me. The most popular and all time favorite of the people remains the same. This is one of the dresses that I continue to showcase in fashion shows because many people love it. This one is one of my first designs from when I first started designing. This dress is very simple and elegant but also have some elements of my culture embedded in it. A simple pleated white skirt that is often worn in my culture with a front apron and simple sash tied in the back. I simplified this look to create this dress. When I designed this dress I was going for something that was contemporary, anyone can wear it, and it's not so Hmong that you can just wear it. It was made for a Hmong girl who was more mainstream yet still want to hold on to a bit of her Hmong-ness. Now this dress seems to be working both ways; it is for the common girl who just wants a bit of culture but still stay true to herself. The models that i got to work with were very professional although quite young. It was refreshing and i love working with models who are professional and willing to work hard. i want each and every model to feel beautiful when they wear my dresses, and not just the models but every girl should feel beautiful. I want to create dresses that makes a girl feel beautiful when she is wearing it.

Ok I am preparing for my next show. This will be my first show with SF fashion week. It is such an honor to be showcasing with them. I am currently working on my dresses so there are no pictures yet. There will be an update soon with pictures. So for now it will just be my sketches. This is only half of what’s to come!
Sewing all all these dresses is such hard work and time consuming. It is especially harder since I entered the show as a last minute addition as a designer. I will be showcasing a few dresses from the past as well as new designs. This collection will consist of formal dresses that are inspired by Hmong motifs and cultural clothing. Most of my collections are inspired by the Hmong culture. I hope everyone enjoys my collection! |
